Effective date: April 14, 2019
My goal is to provide you with a lot of information on a lot of different topics held together by one main thread: God.
In order to do so, I put two things into this website: time and money. Time is easy to spend because I love spending time studying about God (theology), and how it applies to my life and the world around me. I use this website to share this information with you. This website costs money to run, and while I this isn't a problem either, the costs seem to be going up, and I don't believe a little compensation is inappropriate.
For a long time, I ran Google Adsense ads, but I always felt a little guilty about it because I hated the "in your face" aspect that they brought with it when I visited other websites. On top of that, I never knew what kind of advertising they were going to hit you, the visitor, with. When I migrated this site from WordPress to Gatsby, I decided to migrate my advertising policy as well. Gone are the intrusive pop-up and overlay ads, and gone are the persistent ads that creep into the content, annoyingly shifting paragraphs around while you're trying to read.
Now I participate in affiliate programs where I make small commissions, but they don't cost you any extra money. I also have control over what shows up, where it shows up, and the only items you'll see are items I use—or in most cases, have read—and recommend.
A word about Ko-fi and Coffee
If you wish to support this website directly, you can do so through the "Support me on Ko-fi" links at the bottom of most content. I chose Ko-fi over Patreon and Paypal Donate because Ko-fi doesn't charge any fees to you, or me. It's free for both of us. There are some other options if I upgrade to a paid account, but I'm holding out to see if there's interest. The only downside is that the price of a cup of coffee through Ko-fi preset. I can't change it; unless I upgrade.
